01Acceptance

By creating an account or using uResume you accept these terms and the privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

02What uResume is

uResume is an online service, operated by Francisco Cea, for creating resumes: you fill in a form, see a live preview and download a PDF generated with LaTeX or share a public link. It also includes optional AI features (importing a PDF and a CV assistant that can also read job postings). Today it is offered with a free plan. The service is under active development and may change, have bugs or be interrupted.

03Your account

To use the editor you need an account. You must be at least 14 years old (and, if you are a minor, have the authorization of your legal guardian). Give a valid email, protect your password and do not share your account: you are responsible for what happens with it. If you suspect someone accessed it without permission, change your password or write to us.

We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, abuses the service or puts it at risk. A suspended account is signed out and cannot sign in until it is reactivated.

04Your content

The content of your CVs is yours. You grant us only the permission needed to store it, process it and display it as you configure it (for example, generating your PDF or serving your public link).

You are responsible for the information you include being truthful and for having the right to use it. uResume does not verify the content of resumes.

05Intellectual property

uResume, including its software, code, service design, name, brand and logo, belongs to Francisco Cea and is protected by intellectual property law. All rights reserved over what is its own, without prejudice to the third-party rights described below.

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to use the service under these terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, sublicense or reverse engineer the service, or extract data from it in an automated or bulk way, except as the law or the license of each component expressly allows.

You can freely use the PDFs and files you generate with your content, including in your job applications. This does not give you rights over the service's software.

Part of the service's content, such as templates, typefaces and libraries, may be based on third-party works or be an adaptation of them. The rights over those works belong to their respective creators and are governed by the licenses they chose, which we respect and which prevail over these terms where they apply; what uResume contributes (adaptation, its own code and integration) belongs to its owner. These terms neither take away nor grant you rights over third-party works. If you need to know the author or license of a component, write to contact@uresu.me.

06Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Publish illegal, misleading or defamatory content, or content that infringes third-party rights.
  • Use the service to send spam, impersonate others or collect other people’s data.
  • Attempt unauthorized access, overload or interfere with the service, including mass automated PDF generation.
  • Try to get around the usage limits or quotas, abuse the AI features, or attempt to manipulate the assistant to make it behave in ways it was not designed for.
  • Use the assistant to read pages you have no right to access, or to overload or attack third-party sites.

We may suspend or remove content and accounts that break these rules.

07AI features and plans

The AI features (PDF import and the assistant) are optional and use third-party AI models. The assistant only proposes changes to your CV: you decide which ones to apply. Do not include in your CV or messages information you are not entitled to share, or data you would not want processed by an AI provider (see the privacy policy).

AI can make mistakes, invent details or word things poorly. You are responsible for reviewing what it suggests and for the final content of your CV; it is not professional advice, and we do not guarantee that its suggestions will improve your results.

Each account has a monthly allowance of AI credits that depends on its plan (see “Plans, prices and changes to the service”). Unused credits do not carry over to the next month. We may change the allowances, the models, add plans or turn off the AI features, and administrators may adjust an individual account's allowance.

If you share a job posting link, the service will visit that public page to read it. You are responsible for having the right to use its content and for respecting the site's terms. Some pages (such as LinkedIn or those that require signing in) aren't read automatically: in that case you'll be asked to paste the text.

09Plans, prices and changes to the service

uResume may offer different plans, free or paid, with different features, limits and prices. Today all accounts are on the free plan, and that does not mean it will always stay that way: some features that are free today could become paid.

We may modify, limit, replace or remove features, plans, allowances, AI models and commercial terms, including moving features of the free plan to paid plans and introducing prices, subscriptions or advertising, whenever we need to in order to operate, improve or sustain the service.

Changes to the free plan may be made without prior notice, although we will try to give notice when it is reasonable. If you have a paid plan, we will give you reasonable notice (normally at least 30 days, unless it is urgent for security, legal or abuse reasons) before any relevant unfavorable change, and you will be able to cancel. In all cases you can export your data and delete your account; if you keep using the service after a change, we understand that you accept it. You will never be charged without first accepting the price and conditions.

10Availability and changes

We try to keep uResume always available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. We may modify, limit, suspend or remove features, or even stop offering the service; in that case we will try to give reasonable notice and time for you to export your data. We recommend exporting it regularly.

11No warranty and liability

The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. We do not ensure your CV will get interviews or a job, or that any applicant tracking system (ATS) will read it correctly; the ATS check is only guidance.

To the extent permitted by law, uResume and its owner will not be liable for data loss, lost profits or other damages arising from the use or inability to use the service.

We are not responsible for the content generated by AI or for decisions you make based on it.

12Termination

You can stop using uResume and delete your account whenever you want from Settings, which deletes your CVs and turns off your links. We may suspend access, immediately and without prior notice, if you break these terms or to protect the service or other users. Unless there is a serious breach or a legal obligation, we will try to let you export your CVs before closing your account.

13Changes and contact

We may update these terms. Relevant changes will be announced on the site or by email with reasonable notice (see “Plans, prices and changes to the service”); the date above shows the version in force, and continuing to use uResume after they take effect means you accept them. These terms are governed by the laws of Chile.
